FIRE RISK WARNING
Update 13th July 2026: It was reported that a local family held a birthday celebration at the Widdick Chine area beach last weekend and chose to use disposable BBQs. Unfortunately, the warnings issued last week regarding the fire risks associated with BBQs in the area do not appear to have been taken into consideration.
In addition, at least five disposable BBQs were left on site for others to clean up. This is extremely disappointing and creates both an environmental and fire safety concern.
If you choose to use a disposable BBQ, please ensure that you take it home with you and dispose of it safely and responsibly. The current conditions present a significant fire risk, and everyone is asked to act responsibly to help protect our coastline and surrounding environment.
FIRE RISK WARNING
We have received reports of BBQs being used by the beach at Widdick Chine.
With the ground extremely dry, a single spark could cause a serious fire.
Please do not use BBQs or have open fires
If using a BBQ on the beach, make sure it is completely extinguished before you leave.
Please help protect our coastline, wildlife, and nearby homes.
Thank you for your support.
